Wednesday night: packed house, we got a booth next to the bar. Our server was no where to be found. We were about to get mad and leave, but they had a customer service victory! Manager saw us, came to our rescue, got our drinks out super fast, food order placed, switched us to a server that would take care of us, and made is feel welcome. Thanks Mgr Nikki and back up server Matt! I see other reviews complaining about the size of the steampots. I got three lobster claws, a cluster of snow crab legs, a full sausage, a ton of clams, 4 potatoes and a full ear of corn. All tasty. And I'm full. There isnt a restaurant at broadway at the beach that isnt touristy. Thats the whole gimmick of the area. But I've eaten in most of them, and my wife and i had a fun date here, I enjoyed my crabs, and the beers were less than 4 bucks. Between that and the customer service, I'm thrilled. I'll be back!!

The food was good. However, I didn't appreciate the hag we had for a waitress making over my husband from the second we walked through the door as she had the host place us in her section and then acted as if I wasn't even at the table after he walked to the restroom.

Absolutely terrible service. Our server Leann was slow, rude, and inattentive. She had the children's meals mixed up and the adult meals mixed up. My Order was came out Luke warm. Bar drinks took almost 25 min to come. At the end, Leann checks got our check and the next tables check confused and we ended up paying for both tables. The store manager came over with a rude "apology" and we got told that it'd be 3-5 business days before the other cash was returned to our bank account. Just an all around bad experience. No accommodations or any discounts given for the check mixup. Would not recommend at all! We won't go back! I plan on calling corporate on Monday to see what can be done!!!!

East Coast Platter was terrible. There were bits of fried nothing in the platter. The shrimp does not come prepared as advertised. The Tie Dye drink was horrible. Service staff was rude and lazy and the dining floor is very overcrowded. Multiple plates were spilled and I was bumped into more than once by the wait staff. Do not eat at this horrible, trashy, tourist establishment.

The food is excellent and the service was great. Try the steam pots...messy...but oh so worth it! We look forward to eating there every time we visit the area.

For the money, our meal was mediocre. Fried fish for $24. Broiled shrimp with mango sauce were small. Steamed vegetables were less than adequate. Service was excellent.

This is a fun, loud place. Servers are super friendly and helpful. Hostesses not so much, but the servers make up for it. They have a variety of seafood and burgers. Something for everyone. My favorite is the Crab Nachos. They are to die for! Warm, creamy crab on top of crisp nacho chips topped with lettuce, cheese and salsa. It is a large serving, so watch out! You should share. The 30 shrimp is an excellent choice. Fried, peel and eat and coconut shrimp with 2 kinds of dipping sauces and fries. We were not really hungry so this is all we ate this time. They also had reasonable prices for blue moon on tap. As this is a franchise, I have find you can expect the same food and experience coast to coast.

With one young hostess outside and five younger hostesses inside, it was determined within a vast moment, closer to five, that an outdoor seating option was available. To the far end of the dock we were sat, sun setting to the west, water glistening from the wake of an obnoxious speed boat for hire but with Hurricane in hand an overwhelming ease came upon me, "ready to order" I thought to myself. A good third of the menu read to me to be all on the greasy, greasy and greasier side, which is typically of no issue. However, going back to back meals (Cracker Barrel first) with bacon wrapped, deep fried items left me looking for something else, which never materialized. The Big Reel Platter was a monstrosity of non crisp, bottom of the heap, dying an oily death of french fries and onion strings. The single piece of deep fried, breaded white fish amounted to three bites was enjoyable but with tarter sauce served in a thimble, as were the other three dipping sauces I found them virtually unusable and completely inadequate. The plating was a cross between the army and the big house, just sloppily strewn amuck. The two shrimp portions of the meal were completely hit and miss. Coconut Shrimp really was yummy, but the shrimp encased in a lumpy cream cheesy breaded blob, really put me off.

Been to way better Joe's Crab Shacks than this one. It's summer and it's busy in Myrtle Beach, so a wait is expected but they should really be prepared for these crowds by now. Our party of 4 waited over an hour for a table. Other groups who came after us were seated first... Apparently you're assigned a specific table to wait for so your wait depends on the people before you?? This makes no sense. We had some drinks at the bar while we waited and the half eaten food baskets from the people before us weren't cleared for about 40 min. The tables and cups are visibly dirty. Food is expensive, but not good enough to be worth it. We were served our food without utensils or butter. Just not a great experience. I'm sure there are more good, authentic seafood places close by you could try instead.

Love this place...the prices are a ok but its a great value...i took another persons advice and got an appetizer and a pot and that was more then enough food..the portions are quite big...the clams were a bit small but the ragin Cajun was great i ordered some lobster claws on the side and that was great..i ordered the seasonal berry pie it was so big i took it home.. I'll be back to all your locations nationwide :-)

First off, I SHOULD have listened to most of the reviews telling others to stay away. I have never been so disappointed in a "seafood" place. My fiancé and I decided to try it with our son, because friends back home rants and raves about this place. We first walked in and it took a few minutes before we were even greeted. We were sat inside (there is outside seating too). Our server, Tiffany, was t exactly the greatest. She was somewhat nice and attentive but we had to flag her down a few times. Later, we heard the server next to us greet her table. She ewe super upbeat, friendly, and inquisitive of the couple. She made small talk throughout the couple being there. We felt like an inconvenience at times with our server. We ordered my son chicken dippers and fries. When it came out there were two, small, and skinny pieces of fried chicken. They were lost in the sea of fries, some which were burnt. My fiancé ordered the crab cake sandwich, which wasn't too bad. I ordered the Crispy Platter. Be aware they do not alter anything, which means everything comes fried no matter what. The calamari was okay, but not a lot of flavor. The fish was so bland that I had to cover it was cocktail sauce. The stuffed shrimp was probably the best thing on the plate. I didn't even bother finishing my food because it was absolutely flavorless and over fried. Now, the portions you get definitely did not reflect on the bill. You pay a lot for not a lot. Overall, the seafood was by far the worst I've ever had. We will never go back to a Joe's Crab Shack.

We enjoyed the food but almost didn't get to enjoy it due to the very rude and unprofessional girls at the hostess stand. We were trying to figure out how we needed to be seated due to the fact that my 4 month old was in a stroller and can't sit in a high chair. There is apparently a rule that strollers cannot be in the restaurant which I understand but they did not seem to care at all about finding a solution. The girls were rude, muttering under their breath and making sarcastic comments. My husband ended up running to car to get car seat for my son to sit in. One of the managers did come to check on us and was very nice. We were seated behind the hostess stand where we listened to the hostesses talk about strippers and other trashy subjects our entire meal. I guess they had no other work to do. The food was awesome but we almost walked out due to the hostesses...

We came here once recently for some seafood on a family members birthday and had a decent experience. The wait staff wasn't phenomenal and the food was sub par. Overall in this area I'd say you could find better seafood.

Food is good as most Joe's are. BUT when my order came out with just 2 crab legs and I asked it it was typical of the plate, the server & manager said it was by weight but that they'll send out a few more legs. What they didn't tell me was that even though I did not ask for it, they charged me for the additional crab. I was annoyed but just paid and left. Not happy about the sneaky added cost but I like Joe's food, which is the only reason for the 2 stars.

    (2)
  • Neil P.

These aren't the crab legs you're looking for...move along, move along. Joe's is one of those places locals don't really visit. It's not that the food is bad at all; it's just nothing special. With all the places you can eat at Broadway, you've really gotta ask yourself, how bad do you want it? The atmosphere is fun; think Applebees meets a beach shack. Lots of visual stimuli. Christmas lights, junk on the wall...you get the idea. But, is it worth the full-on, in-your-face tourist experience you're about to endure? You're gonna get it all here... The crowds, the wait, the screaming kids...buckle up! Personally, I don't think so. If you can grab a table in the off season, sure. It's nice enough for a quick beer and a bite to eat, but that's about it as far as I'm concerned. I gave up on them when they stopped serving crab-balls; that really was their saving grace as far as I'm concerned. I've been lured back on occasion when friends are in town and they insisted on trying it out. It's always the same thing. I find myself enduring it more than enjoying it. -Neil TIP: If you're a seafood lover and actually looking for crab, skip this place and go to Captain George's across the street. I've reviewed it in the past...check it out.

It's a Joe's Crab Shack. If you've been to one you've been to them all. The food is good but can't compare to the freshness of meals we had elsewhere on our trip.

  • Jamie M.

Pretty pricey! I'm usually in love with this place but I think they rush to cook lobster during their busy season because it wasn't so good on the 4th of July! The loaded nachos are ok but much better when they offered it with fries instead of nachos. Crab legs are good!

Visited on a Saturday night for a late dinner around 9:00. We had a group of 7 and they told us there would be about an hour and fifteen minute wait. I liked the fact that we could give them our phone number and they could text us when our table was ready so we could walk around Broadway at the beach. Our table was ready in around 20 minutes which was great! Our waiter was awesome and we were there for a weekend bachelorette party and he was more than willing to play bachelorette party games with us! To drink I got a sweet strawberry lemon rum drink... It was very tasted! 3 of us had free appetizers and it was supposed to only be one per table but we were allowed to use all three of them. We got fireballs, crab dip, and stuffed mushrooms! All were very delicious! I loved the fireballs which our waiter suggested! Our appetizers came out super fast! In fact we were ordering our meal when our appetizers came out. For my meal I got the Ragin Cajun steamer pot! For a table of 7 our food came out pretty quick. There was a few issues with some of the girls food (sides didn't come out) our waiter quickly fixed the issue and even brought out extra of the sides that were missing. The steamer pot was awesome as always! The crab was cooked perfectly! Everything was so delicious! For dessert I got the apple dessert with ice cream! I have gotten it before and it was just as delicious this time as well! I love Joe's Crab Shack and will go back every time I am near one! Awesome food! And our waiter was super nice and funny and made our dinner entertaining!

Loved this Joe's. they were super packed when we came but that didn't seem to effect the service. we were seated quickly and greeted warmly. After all the formalities our drink orders were taken i got a beer and my girlfriend got a category 5 hurricane. which was super strong ,how strong you might ask?.. lets just say light weights need not apply. lol after getting a good buzz going we finally order . i got the grilled chicken sandwich but only because they gave my girlfriend enough seafood to feed a small village. lol she got like a shrimp sampler plate which had butterfly shrimp, bacon wrapped shrimp, coconut shrimp and well lets just say anything you could do to a shrimp was on this plate. all of which was great. i would definitely recommend this Joe's to anyone in the myrtle beach area looking for great seafood and to just have a good time.

  • Yuleidy K.

We ate here as it was one of the only things open late night. We ordered the sampler for an appetizer and it was delicious. My best friend and I ordered the red fish and lobster and it was absolutely delicious!!! The fish was perfectly cooked and the sauce was heaven. My husband had the peel and eat shrimp which were also tasty. I've had the steam pots before. The taste was fine, but I don't find that they fill you up for the price you pay.

Yet to be disappointed. As usual the food was good and the service was friendly. Had the regular queen crab steam bucket with fries. Crab legs were good. Didn't care much for the hush puppies. A great place to visit while in town. If your wallet can handle it.

Very expensive Long John Silvers! We ordered one of those buckets along with chicken fingers/planks and fries for the kids. The food was not good, really just not good. The chicken fingers and fries tasted EXACTLY like Long John Silver's except 2-3 times the price. It was definitely not worth the money.

Ate there last Thursday, June 4. Good: The crab dip appetizer. Bad: Everything else. The food is barely OK as there's much better seafood in the area. What I don't understand is the love affair with french fries. If you order an appetizer--and we had Great Balls of Fire (jalapeno poppers stuffed with seafood and crab meat and with almost no kick, so these balls definitely weren't on fire) and clam strips, they were both served on a bed of french fries giving the impression that there were more of each appetizer in the basket than there were. I had the East Coast Platter for an entree. A piece of fried fish, three very small stuffed shrimp and a decent enough crabcake. And it was all served on an ungodly amount of french fries and onion strings. I hate to think how many fries and onion strings they throw out at the end of the night. And, while I'm wondering that, I'll tell you that I will never go back to any Joe's Crab Shack as there's far better seafood to be found out there.

We went here on May 31st at around 5:20pm. We had 10 people and we had no wait other than the time it took to set up a table. Our order was taken very quickly. All food was made well and came out in a timely manner. I'm not a seafood fan so I ordered the chicken tenders and fries and those were perfect. Two people in the group ordered the East Coast Platter which had bacon wrapped shrimp, a crab cake, fried fish, onion straws and fries and both people loved it. There were only two things that were not great. A wrong side dish was brought out for one the of the kid's meals and it took awhile for us to get the waiter's attention, As soon as we spoke to him, he very quickly offered to fix it. The only other issue was there was light streaming in through a skylight and made it uncomfortable for everyone sitting on one side of the table until the sun began to set.

Revisited this place and I must say my experience was completely different than last time I was here, the food was just ok,but the waitress was horrible, and they weren't even busy she was some what of a smart ass when she was taking our order had no sense of humor at all, I think her name was adna, they really need to retrain her, I thought I was being punkd....it was that bad

$2 Tuesday. Great value for happy hour with apps and drinks. But, I would never come back. The bar service was very lacking and slow! The bartender even walked away and said "I hate $2 Tuesday." I over compensate for that and tip well but with this attitude, why bother? Bartender also was surprised to see us locals in, now I know why.

This location is great on Broadway, perfect for dinner after a movie or before drinks. Love the laid back atmosphere and the food never disappoints. They were out of mussels which didn't bother me too much. Their outdoor seating is great, equipped with fans and next to the water. They are a little overpriced but the food tastes so fresh so it's worth it.

We had lunch today while at broadway at the beach. We just had burgers and chicken. We also started with the crab nachos. The nachos were decent. The burger I shared with my son was terrific. I've been craving a good burger and this was it! We had the bacon chipotle burger. Bacon was crisp. Bun was great. But her was perfectly cooked (medium). Fiancé burger was just "ok" the restroom was clean. Our waitress was friendly. .. I'd go back but nithing to write home about. It's your typical chain type of place.

Worst food and service I every had. Took 20 min to get drinks. The food was cold by the time we got ketchup. The food was over cooked. I spent over 40 dollars for horrible food. On top of that gratuity was added to it.

Had dinner tonight and the place was fairly busy. this was our first time at Joes Crab Shack and i didn't know what to expect. We were seated very quickly and our orders taken just as fast. I ordered the Artic bay steam pot at $32, and my wife had a salad. Our food was brought out in a reasonable amount of time. I was slightly disappointed with the appearance of the steam pot seeing how it cost $32. I understand lobster cost a higher price but it was a smaller lobster. Also the crab legs were on the small side and lacking meat. I'm sure it's a throw of the dice on what size you get but they should purchase a little larger crab. Also I haven't had lobster but a few time but it seemed to be a little over cooked as it was kind of chewy. The flavor over all was good, However it being a $32 meal I expected the wow factor. I would go back and give the place another try but I would not try another steam pot. My tip is if you don't mind spending a little extra give it a shot, it was good but not great.

Being from the Ocean State I have a high standard for seafood and there is probably a reason there isn't one in Rhode Island. Staff was very friendly, bartender and waitresses but the food was just lacking the WOW factor to me. I like it when I am so full and continue to clean off the plate and I left some on there. I am not going to say it was bad and I only did have one dish but I guess I should stick to things SC is good at like BBQ

  • Aaron M.

The $47 dollar bucket with the lobsters and clams was awful. The lobster was overcooked, the clams were flavorless, and the shrimp were large, but not deveined so they were extremely gritty. The sausage that was cooked with it was boiled until all the flavor was gone. I had to request additional old bay to make the boil edible. I understand this is a chain restaurant in a tourist area, but the food was unacceptable. On their behalf, service was great. Our waiter was very attentive and food came in a timely fashion.

  • Jason A.

Eat at Joes, indeed!! The crab and boil pots are quite ample and very well prepared; amazingly fast, too. Considering I'm married to a Maryland girl, you can imagine how high the bar had to be for some crab. Well she was happy, I was satisfied, the children had fun, everyone was stuffed, so what's not to like!?! Kinda pricy to be sure, but it's well worth it if you've just got to have some quality seafood!

  • Jen W.

Went with about 12 other family members in our party. The waiter was nice and efficient especially considering there were so many of us. I really wanted crab legs but the price was insane. Incredibly over priced. I opted for the fish and chips and it was pretty good. My husband ordered the burger with the shrimp on top and was very disappointed. His shrimp were soggy and cold. Looking at the crab pot my brother-in-law ordered, I'm thankful I chose something more substantial yet cheaper. His crabs looked wimpy and there were few of them. I think there were only 3 shrimp in his pot. It cost around $30. He was still hungry and I'm SO thankful I avoided that money trap. Overall it wasn't a terribly bad experience for me personally despite my husband's and others completely disappointing meals. My one biggest concern was the price gauging. Ridiculously more expensive than necessary given the quality and quantity. Here on vacation, will not be back.

$28.00 bucket was OK but the $49.00 bucket was horrible... Lobster was not eaten, clams did not open and corn was very good in one and unbeatable in the other. Complained and manager made good with a new lobster and clams. I would have never gone back if he did not do that. Second lobster was very good and clams where great.

I have been to a lot of joe's crab shacks but this one I was not thrilled with at all I wen't there on a monday mid day they sat me very quickly and the waitress was very nice and friendly. The kitchen got my order wrong but I was hungry and ate what they sent out (loving all forms of crab) when I saw the waitress I let her know about what happened so it could by prevented in the future she offered to fix it I told her I already ate most of it and not to worry I just wanted to let her know so it could be prevented in the future for someone else. She went and told the manager who came out and stared at my food that I was still eating in such a way it made me to not really want to finish. Then after the stare down said what do yo want me to do about it. I ate most of it already and was not asking for anything. He said again what do you want me to do about it. So I said just get me the sauce that should have been on it. And he did I felt that this was the only way to end the situation. Then they kept come over asking if it was better. It's like let it go and let me eat in peace. They made me feel like I was trying to get something for nothing now the way they stared at me. I already told them I was not asking for anything that i just wanted to let them know about it. By now they ruined the meal that I drove a hundred miles to have. If anything they maybe should have offered a small discount or even just said I'm sorry and let me finish my meal in peace. The only reason I said anything at all was to prevent future problems for someone else. Having a very long drive home by the time I got home I was actually mad I have been in retail a long time and learned a long time a go (just listen to what the customer has to say ) if he had there would have been no problem and I would have never thought about it again. Mistakes happen if anything offer a discount . I have never had a customer get made about that . Now they have a made customer I have told everyone I know and wont go back to this location again the waitress was great and did a good job. The manager need to go before I will come back......have to stop now getting mad all over

First time ever eating at Joe's Crab Shack . At the beginning everything was good, and then my son noticed a bug cooked in his food. My son had a children meal and the bug was cooked into the fried fish, when he noticed the bug he lost all his appetite. We told the server and she went to get the manager, they were panicking because they said this was the first time it has ever happened at this restruraunt. The manager finally decided that everything was going to be paid for by the joe crab shack and that we could get anything we wanted.

During our visit to Broadway on the Beach we decided to try out Joe's. We were told about a 30 minute wait but actually got sat within less than 15 minutes. As a New Englander I'm very particular about my seafood. I got the crabcake sandwich which was pretty good. Fries were good too. Got a yummy drink concoction called the Shark Bite. After a day at Broadway on the Beach I needed it. Our server was pretty awesome the whole time! For those of you who are surprised it's a touristy restaurant like another reviewer mentioned "it is at Broadway on the Beach" tourist zone big time. At areas like this you can't expect the greatest service nor the best food. That being said my crabcakes were better than a more upscale restaurant on the beach. It is a loud place, with lots of families, so if you don't like either of those things, then not a place for you. I was with my son so I didn't mind all of that too much. But then again the drink helped, ha ha. :)

Before I give my negative, I just want to give credit to our waitress who tried her very best to help with our issues. While our overall service was bad it was not due to the wait staff. Here are my complaints: 1. Our wine was served in tumblers and martini glasses 2. Our salads came with our entrees 3. A shrimp trio was ordered and came as a shrimp "duo" and the third shrimp was replaced by a random side of potatoes. After pointing this out we were brought the third shrimp 10 minutes later. 4. Food was subpar (except the crab legs were good.) The only positive things were that some of our party enjoyed dancing with the waitstaff and that our table was ready much faster than expected. I've been to Joe's before... probably about 4 years ago and I don't remember being this disappointed. Maybe it was just a really bad night... but I probably won't be going back there again.

First, we waited about an hour and a half which was fine, that's normal. Took 20 minutes to get our drinks, which was 2 bottles of beer. Our waitress apparently got overwhelmed during her shift and left the restaurant, so then we waited another 20 minutes before we even got to place our order. Once we placed our order we waited even longer and a 3rd waitress came to our table to take our order again because apparently they lost our order. So we wait for about a half hour to get our food once they finally put our order in. We (2 of us) got once of the boiled buckets or whatever its called which costs about $40 and comes with crab legs, shrimp, sausage and potatoes. When it came out to us, there were 4 crab legs, 4 shrimp, 2 sausages and 3 potatoes.... once we ate this appetizer sized entree, there was one potato left, so I bit into it and immediately knew something was wrong. I look at the inside of the potato was BLACK! After wasting my money at this garbage pit, I took a cab to the closest McDonald's to satisfy my appetite. Needless to say, don't waste your money or time at this restaurant. TERRIBLE!

We ate there yesterday. Sat at the bar. Had Daryl as our bartender. Nice guy. Was funny, made sure we were taken care of. He rang up the wrong food and personally went to the kitchen and brought it out. Highly recommend going there. People were much much there. I believe they have a slide and some other things outside for kids.

It's a Joes... They are the same no matter where you are. There is better seafood people! Again I had to go here for a birthday so for me there was no avoiding it. My surf n turf burger was as good as it normally is at Joe's. The place was packed but they still managed to get us in quickly and there were 9 of us. They do have an impressive drink menu with no prices on it. Those pretty drinks cost a pretty penny. Some people in our party complained that the drinks were a bit weak. Again there are plenty of restaurants in Myrtle Beach so if you have been to Joe's before than you won't be missing out by passing on it while you are here. Our waiter was attentive and did his best to keep everybody happy. He was a good sport with the garbage we threw his way, not literally of course.

Ordered the fire grilled crab pot... Half way through we realized the shrimp was 90% RAW and had been sitting with the potatoes corn and crab legs. We showed our waitress then the manager came to confirm. They brought out more shrimp but it was spoiled for me by then. Our meal was not even discounted for their mistake. Our waitress was a doll so I added another star.

First things first: this place is at Broadway at the Beach, so it is a tourist destination. It is jam-packed in there, and it is also a very loud restaurant. Not only are there a lot of people talking and crappy music blasting, but the waitstaff will randomly decide to form a chorus line and begin to sing a song together. Also, when it's someones birthday they make a very big deal about it, where the waiter shouts at the top of his lungs and makes the birthday person dance around the whole restaurant while the entire place is encouraged to sing "Happy Birthday." It was cute to see a kid do it the first time, but it ended up happening at least every ten minutes, and it got annoying very quickly. The food is mostly crab legs, usually sold with other seafood items to make a platter. The menu is expensive, with none of the crab dinners costing less than $22. We got the basic Joes platter which came with a bunch of stuff. The snow crab legs were small, but the dungeness crab legs were a bit larger and meatier. I did really enjoy the sausage. The shrimp were a turn-off, as three of the six shrimp I got were not de-veined before they reached the table. It is definitely a very loud, crazy restaurant. The prices are a bit high, but that's mainly attributed to the location. I do love to crack open crab legs, and the platters look impressive, and taste good. There are just a lot of things to consider prior to coming on down here.

Sure its a chain, kind of touristy, and gets packed, but they take reservations have good food, and is alot of fun. The drinks can't be beat, and it costs so much less than a similar meal in Boston. I think we actually split the Boston bucket and an appetizer and it was more than enough food. We try to make it here at least once when we visit Myrtle Beach.

Decent crabs. Decent service. Waitress checked on us every 5 minutes which felt like having an extremely needy girlfriend. We had the crab stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer and split a bucket of Queen Crabs. As everyone else below has said Joe's is rather pricey for what you actually get however, the restaurant usually has a nice ambience and seating is plentiful. Dont go in expecting a fancy dinner, just expect to pay just short of the price.

In my recent experience at Joe's (Myrtle Beach), it was subpar. I've eaten at others and very satisfied but this one was just ok. The seating and service were to my liking but the amount of food for the money... does not compare to other Joe's Crab Shacks'.

    (2)
  • Mel T.

Food being good was the only saving grace. Service was at best mediocre. Bar drinks were soo strong they were undrinkable. Waitress left dirty dishes on the table to pile up until asked to take some the table. Spent $50 for group of 4 including 2 kids meals and no dessert, for LUNCH. This was with a salad, fish & chip plate, and two kids meals. Not worth that kind of money.

Joes Crab Shack at Broadway on the beach was yummy. I decided to try it out despite the not so great reviews. Take-out order.....bucket of snow crab legs, which comes with red potatoes and corn on the cob. I enjoyed my meal very much!

We went to Joe's even though we normally go to restaurants based off of Yelp reviews, we decided to try it out anyway. We were sat right away for lunch. We noticed as soon as we sat down, that the female manager was walking around to pretty much every table and making sure that everyone was okay. This is normally a good thing however she did it in a very robotic and insincere way, making it seem like she really did not care. My wife and I both ordered drinks, I just had a Landshark Beer and my wife had a strawberry peach sangria which was very sweet and strong with vodka which is not normal for sangria. We started out with Peel and eat shrimp, however the shrimp were not easily able to peel so we ended up ripping a lot of the shrimp apart to get the skin off. I ordered a blackened red fish with seasoned vegetables and dirty rice. The fish was very good, however the broccoli was not cooked at all, while the carrots were. Also the dirty rice had very little seasoning on it and was very dry so it was not that appetizing as a side. My wife had stuffed clams which were very dry however when she added lemon to them they moistened up and were better. She also ordered hushpuppies that were tasty. The reason they only get a 2 is because the food all had a very dry flavor, the shrimp were not easy to peel at all and the total bill ended up being over $70 before tip was included. Oh and remember how I told you about the manager touching all the tables as we sat, she however never made it over to our table even though she made it to all the tables that surrounded ours! We will not be going back here and will continue to listen to Yelpers when it comes to their reviews!

Overpriced given the location, but not that good a place. Wimpy crab legs, and I mean wimpy! OK service, I guess. For a seafood place, I surely expected more and between the 5 of us we did try almost half their menu - talking about a third, fourth or tenth chance...

    (3)
  • Linn A.

Service was very very slow! Took over an hour to get our food! I will never visit the shack again!

I've been to better Joe's before. I had the KJ bucket. The snow crab meat did not come out in solid chunks, but rather came apart in fibers, making for a more difficult dining experience. The clams and mussels were tasty. Service was professional, if a bit slow (I believe because they were understaffed). Manager was very nice and held the door for us on the way out. My friend had the Sam Adams bucket and said the lobster claw did not have the right texture. However the overall experience was good, and the food mostly tasty.

We had heard so many good things about Joe's Crab Shack so we were excited at the chance to eat there. Well what a disappointment. We ordered one of the steam pot dinners and some drinks. The steam pot arrived without everything that was included and the melted butter was cold. While we were waiting for our order there was two other tables close by the received there orders and at each table parts of the order was wrong. In fact the table next to us ordered the same steam pot we did minus seasonings. We think we got their steam pot and that's why it was cold. Total waste of time and not worth the money. This was going to be dinner but we had to go else where cause we were still hungry. Don't go there.

The worst experience at Joe's EVER! Food was blah! Shrimp overcooked. Crab pots not prepared with ingredients from the menu! Almost ended up eating something I am allergic to after the waitress assured me that it he item didn't contain it. Asked the person that brought food out and he went to ask kitchen staff...answer was "yes"....SMH....Manager came over took it off bill and offered replacement. Hush puppies were not good. Drinks were never refilled.....needless to say...her tip suffered because of her lack of attentiveness and knowledge .

The service was great. We were seated quickly and our food arrived promptly. But the food was not quite up to par for the price. I had a combination shrimp an fish dish. The shrimp were good, but the fish not so much. On a brighter note the servers did sing and dance

Good fun time! My group of girls and I decided to spent a couple of days in Myrtle. After walking around on a rainy day you stop by Joe's Crab Shack! The environment /setting was very fun and lively! Great place for big groups =) I can't stop but smile when reading the innuendos on the wall/on door like..."Joe's big deck" or "We give you crabs"...or maybe they are not innuendos but just my unsanitary mind keke. But there is this guy that came around making balloons for free but do except tip! So please do give him tip =) He was so adorable and a big hit with the kids and me! We ended up standing up and singing "YMCA"! Wonderful time =) We have it on video kekeke Only thing...PRICEY!!! For something that is good but not great and I've tasted better....AND LITTLE portions for like $30... Service friendly and nice some cute guys but seem underage hahaha ::smack hands:: bad Trish! Overall most of my 4 stars go of the environment =)

Great place to eat, friendly service, and amazing food. First time eating here but it was worth the 20-30 minute wait - plus they texted us when we the table was ready allowing us to go shop around Broadway. Strongly recommend splitting the two person bucket between two people. Delicious first time at Joe's Crab Shack.

  • Joseph C.

Joe's Crab Shack might as well be Joe's Crap Shack. This restaurant is one of the more touristy places in Myrtle Beach, and the service is nearly nonexistent. After waiting nearly two hours to be seated, we found ourselves waiting all too long for fish dishes that were simply horrific. My blackened tilapia was void of good seasonings or taste, and was anything but flaky. Joe's Crab Shack is not worth your time, especially with so many other restaurants competing for your dollars in Myrtle Beach.

Super touristy and nothing to write home about. service was OK, but the manager mistook us for some upset patrons, which was just awkward and weird. Overpriced due to location I suppose. The one plus-kids play place out side so you can get your drink on and your crab on while the kids play on the playground.

    (2)
  • Tom L.

Food was very good. We ordered a old bay steam pot. Very good and a lot of food. The service on the other hand was terrible. The server never bothered to check on us and the manager seemed to go to every table except ours. On the table they give you a roll of paper towels as napkins. Which we liked. However the bucket, which contained the paper towels, we found someones discarded shrimp tails. Absolutely disgusting. The service was so bad it will make us never go back to a place that serves pretty good food.

  • Steve R.

As some of the other reviews stated, it's a seafood chain restaurant. I've eaten at a couple of them and they are good, not great, and probably a little more expensive than they should be. Four stars because they are consistent and as a parent of two young kids, i can't say enough good things about the playground on the back deck. My wife and I were actually able to eat crabs and eat them at a normal pace. Exactly what we wanted while on vacation.

I had one of the worst services of my life. I was taking a group of 15 cheerleaders and their family for a late lunch after finishing a competition. It was 2PM when we got there. At 2:45, the girls were near faint. I asked the waitress to check on the food and she snapped at me. When she saw me get up, she realized I must be going to find the manager and she called over her shoulder that he was coming. After another 10 minutes I went to hunt him down. He did find the food and bring it out 58 minutes after they took our orders. Then we realized the baked in a group gratuity. I have never in my life not paid a tip but I refused to pay this tip especially after realizing that the tip was the reason she felt she had a license to be rude. We couldn't even get them to come take our money. I had to search down the manager to pay. I told him I refused to pay a tip and he said that was fine. It was a terrible experience and I will never go there again.

Warning Spring Breakers 2011!!! It's worth it to wait the 2 hours for a table at JB's Margaritaville at Broadway at the Beach. Joes Crab Shack is HORRIBLE! We USED to have (key words "used to"!) a Joes in our hometown so when we bailed on the wait at Margaritaville, Joes seemed like a reasonable 2nd choice. We waited 45 minutes for a table for 6 and ordered at 7:53 p.m. With no explanation from the waitress or manager as to why it was taking so long, our meal was finally served at 8:40 p.m. -- almost an hour after we ordered!!! Several items (scallops, fish, crab cake) in 4 of our 6 meals of course were cold. My 1 tablespoon of cole slaw however was warm. There were unexpected pea-sized bits of fried batter crumbs from what must be a very dirty fryer mixed in with my meal which were very hard and I almost cracked a tooth. Our meal came to $102 and I didn't pay for a penny. The second manager who came to our table to apologize (the first had the customer service skills of a pit viper) comp'd our meal. No matter, it was horrible and we left 1/2 of it on our plates. Like the one in our hometown, this Joes needs to "go." Letter to this restaurant's district/regional manager and/or corporate offices will follow!

Our waitress was a doll so I added another star.

They have gotten cheap on their servings but not on their prices. No more hush puppies with any of their plates and very little fries. I would go to another sea food place at all costs. Huge disappointment.

  • Robert B.

The service was great. We were seated quickly and our food arrived promptly. But the food was not quite up to par for the price. I had a combination shrimp an fish dish. The shrimp were good, but the fish not so much. On a brighter note the servers did sing and dance

Worst food and service I every had. Took 20 min to get drinks. The food was cold by the time we got ketchup. The food was over cooked. I spent over 40 dollars for horrible food. On top of that gratuity was added to it.
